About Juniper Oil

The healing properties of Juniper Oil are irrefutable with evidence of the ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks, using it as a medicine long before its use in food.

The Juniper Scalp Therapy Shampoo uses a high percentage of juniper oil obtained from coppiced Spanish juniper trees. This gives the shampoo its rich amber colour and the distinctive ‘burnt wood’ fragrance.

Apart from being an excellent anti-microbial, the main property of juniper oil is that it slows down what’s called the ‘epidermal turnover’ – that’s the rate at which the skin cells reproduce and grow.

When this happens too quickly on the scalp, the result is dandruff or other more serious disorders such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.
